In the year 2010 there are several trends that will occur in the storage industry in Indonesia. This was despite the increasingly growing needs of data centers is increasing.
Described Nettap Indonesia Country Manager, Stephen Law, the first trend that will appear in next year is the virtualization of data centers that include widely in the enterprise, especially in telecom vendors and energy companies.
"Virtualization in the data center of enterprise segment actually has happened in recent years, but its still small. The next year, in many application virtualization increasingly used by large companies," said Stephen, when discussions with NetApp, at Pacific Place, Jakarta.
The second trend that will happen in 2010, according to Stepehen, is the shift of the disk storage format to disk (D2D) to disk to tape (D2T). "The use of real D2T will remain on next year, but that nature are few and limited," he added.
The use of electricity-saving storage and environmentally friendly as well as a future trend in 2010. The problem in Indonesia using monolithic storage format than the use of many modular. In the future, monolithic will soon abandoned because of electrical problems that can not be compromised.
"In Indonesia, instead of monolithic can not be used, but use a very large power. If such force is used, can-can PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) angry," selorohnya.
Clearly, the vendor data center will continue to be urged to create new innovations, since many firms will tighten their belts and change the spending of funds from capital expenditure (capex) to the operational expenditure (OPEX).
